About this event

The Mostly Modern Festival is an international music festival that celebrates modern music in all its diversity—music by living composers from across the globe, alongside 20th and 21st-century classics.

The festival is ideally located in beautiful Saratoga Springs, NY, a world-renowned destination with an award-winning downtown. New York, Boston, Montreal and Philadelphia are all within a three-hour drive.

All events take place at Skidmore College at the Arthur Zankel Music Center (except the Caffe Lena Kickoff).

2025 Schedule:

  • Thursday, June 5th: 6th Season Opener – Festival composers and faculty from across the globe come together for a night of brand-new works and premieres featuring American Modern Ensemble, celebrating its 20th anniversary
  • Friday, June 5th: Caffe Lena Kickoff – Sold Out for Two Years in a Row
  • Saturday, June 7th: FAB5 – Performing William Tell Overture for Belmont; Horse Chocolate giveaways from Saratoga Candy Co to all ticket buyers
  • Sunday, June 8th: Mostly Modern Orchestra with David Amado – Spend the afternoon with the Mostly Modern Orchestra, featuring maestro David Amado. Music includes brand-new works including Robert Paterson’s Celestial Harmonics and Stephen Cabell’s Symphony: Transmutation as well as Alban Berg’s Violin Concerto and Samuel Barber’s Medea’s Meditation and Dance of Vengeance
  • Friday, June 13th: American Modern Ensemble – Festival composers and faculty from across the globe come together for a night of brand-new works and premieres featuring American Modern Ensemble, celebrating its 20th anniversary
  • Saturday, June 14th: Voices of Today Sing! – Acclaimed composers and singers join forces. Top vocalists from across the United States & abroad will be showcasing their talents tonight
  • Sunday, June 15th: JoAnn Falletta with the Buffalo Philharmonic – Featuring Grammy®-winning legend and first woman to lead a major American orchestra
  • Tuesday, June 17th: Mostly Modern Brass – These brass players are our globetrotters this summer... principals at the New York City Ballet, Chicago Symphony, Carnegie Hall, and Hollywood Bowl. Strike up the Band!
  • Wednesday, June 18th: Voices of Today Sing! – Acclaimed composers and singers join forces. Top vocalists from across the United States & abroad will be showcasing their talents tonight
  • Friday, June 20th: 6th Season Finale – Mostly Modern Orchestra featuring Vermont Symphony Orchestra, Maestro Andrew Crust
